Marian students earn National Merit honors

Five seniors at Marian High School in Omaha received National Merit Scholarship honors, with three being named finalists.

Amirtha Arun, Abigail McGill and Mary Watson are among 15,000 students nationwide vying for more than 7,500 National Merit college scholarships.

Also honored were Eleanor Ricketts, named a commended student for placing among the top 5 percent  of students taking the qualifying test, and Kira Bravo, recognized by the National Hispanic Recognition Program as among the top 2.5 percent of Hispanic/Latino test takers in their regions.

The students at the all-girls school earned the honors by taking the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in October 2017.
