School of Faith to offer retreat
The School of Faith is offering a free, three-day retreat for Catholic school teachers in the archdiocese.
Titled "Encountering Christ – the Teacher of Mercy," the Aug. 3-5 retreat will be held at the St. Benedict Center near Schuyler and include presentations from Deacon James Keating, director of the archdiocese’s permanent diaconate program, and Teresa Monaghen, an apostolic oblate with the Pro Sanctity Movement near Elkhorn.
A retreat is an opportunity for educators to broaden and deepen their faith beyond the monthly sessions presented through the school year by the School of Faith for educators in archdiocesan schools, said Keith Jiron, the program’s director in the archdiocese.
About 35 educators are expected to participate in the August retreat, but interest expressed by teachers has been strong, so School of Faith could make summer and other retreats an ongoing offering, he said.
