Stations of Cross to help close 40 Days for Life effort
Two solemn, prayerful opportunities to witness for life will be held at noon on Good Friday in Omaha and Bellevue, in front of abortion clinics as part of the Omaha area’s sixth annual Lenten observance of 40 Days for Life.
Stations of the Cross at the Planned Parenthood clinic at 3105 N. 93rd Street in Omaha will be led by Father Michael Voithofer, associate pastor of nearby St. James Parish, said Ann Marie Bowen of Nebraskans United for Life in Omaha.
Leading the Stations at Dr. LeRoy Carhart’s clinic at 1002 W. Mission Ave. in Bellevue will be Deacon Gary Bash of St. Mary Parish, also in Bellevue, Bowen said.
"We understand those little ones are being killed as Christ was killed on Good Friday," Bowen said. "We want to stand with them as Mary stood with Jesus at the foot of the cross."
The spring campaign of prayer and witness against abortion is going well again this year, Bowen said. Beginning on Ash Wednesday and continuing through Lent, it urges people across the country to stand as prayerful witnesses at abortion clinics. It also encourages other forms of prayer, fasting and community outreach.
