Stuart native served 62 years
School Sister of St. Francis Beatus Laible, a native of Stuart who served 62 years in health care in Wisconsin, died April 21 at Sacred Heart Convent in Milwaukee. She was 92.
Sister Laible entered the religious order in 1940, made her first profession of vows in 1942 and final vows in 1948.
She received a bachelor’s degree in science from Alverno College in Milwaukee and served in health care in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee from 1941 until she retired in 1992, including as a nurse’s aide, registered nurse and director of nursing at a psychiatric hospital.
Sister Laible continued to serve in health care as a volunteer until 2003.
Her funeral Mass was April 27 at St. Joseph Convent and burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, both in Milwaukee.
She was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Rose Laible; brothers Felix, Rudolph and Benedictine Father Adrian Laible; sisters, an infant, and Rose Frickel. Survivors include a sister, Cathy White of Omaha; nieces and nephews.
