Bakery items are on the shopping list for some Sept. 21 at St. Peter Parish in Omaha’s mobile food pantry effort with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Food Bank of the Heartland.

Omaha parish teams with Catholic Charities

Members of St. Peter Parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Society partnered with Catholic Charities and Food Bank of the Heartland Sept. 21 to provide fresh produce, bakery and other items for the needy.

People lined up at the mobile pantry at the church 90 minutes before the 10 a.m. start of the event, said Cindy Engelkamp, president of the parish’s St. Vincent de Paul group.

"Many youth of the parish came out with their parents to help serve the needy face-to-face," Engelkamp said.

Co-chairs Sonja Schreffler and Diane Anderson, also St. Vincent de Paul Society members, helped organize the mobile pantry. The event is held every fall and spring.
