Rosary is faith focus in October

The month of October was dedicated to the rosary, and students in schools and parish religious programs across the archdiocese formed prayerful rosary chains, with students and teachers, balloons and even cookies representing rosary beads.

At St. Patrick Parish in Tekamah, students in religious education classes in seventh grade through high school learned about prayers of the rosary, including the four sets of mysteries – joyful, luminous, sorrowful and glorious – and made a rosary using Oreo cookies.

At St. Mary School in Bellevue, students prayed the rosary as they formed a living rosary in the gym Oct. 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.

And at St. Bonaventure School in Columbus, students joined with religious sisters of the Leaven of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to pray a rosary Oct. 13. They also released a rosary made of balloons that carried students’ intentions.
