St. Columbkille helps food pantry
Six seventh-graders at St. Columbkille School in Papillion decided to feed the hungry as a service project for confirmation preparation – and they filled more than 40 boxes with food items that together weighed 1,600 pounds.
Sammie LaFramboise and classmates Sarah Cordwin, Ivy Isenberg, Jenna McGargill, Mary Miller and Alivia Narke asked school administrators and teachers for permission to hold a drive at the school and promise a dress-down day as a prize for donations.
"I am very proud of the girls and the fact that they looked at it as a way to truly serve others," said Jim Makey, school principal.
The donations will help a food pantry serve people during the holiday season in LaVista, Papillion and Ralston.
