Omaha schools honored for service
College of Saint Mary and Creighton University, both in Omaha, were honored March 4 by the Corporation for National and Community Service for their commitment to volunteering, student-service learning and civic engagement, as well as meaningful community outcomes.
College of Saint Mary was named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction for the third year in a row. Creighton, which was listed on the honor roll category, was recognized for the sixth year.
Last year, College of Saint Mary students provided 18,786 hours of service, impacting 125 communities and organizations. At Creighton, students, faculty and staff were involved in more than 800 service programs, contributing to more than 389,000 volunteer hours.
