Iowa native served 18 years in archdiocesan schools

School Sister of St. Francis Marietta Greiner, a native of Keota, Iowa, whose ministry included 18 years teaching in archdiocesan elementary schools, died May 5 in Wisconsin. She was 87.

Her funeral Mass was May 13 at St. Joseph Convent in Campbellsport, Wis. Burial was at the convent’s Sisters Cemetery.

Beginning in 1950, Sister Greiner taught and served in health ministries in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, New York, South Dakota and Minnesota.

In the Archdiocese of Omaha, she taught at then-St. Frances School in Randolph from 1969 to 1970, taught and was principal at St. Ludger School in Creighton from 1970 to 1973, taught and was coordinator of religious education at St. Robert Bellarmine School and Parish in Omaha from 1973 to 1978 and taught at Our Lady of Lourdes School, also in Omaha, from 1978 to 1987.

Sister Greiner’s survivors include her brother, Walter, of Washington, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
