Cathedral decked out for St. Cecilia Flower Festival

Jan. 27 was a busy day at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha as floral artists snipped, pinched and delicately tucked lush, vibrant flowers into nearly every available space at the cathedral.

Roses, daisies, birds-of-paradise, lilies, orchids, larkspurs and more graced the cathedral and filled the air with their scents in advance of the 38th annual Flower Festival this weekend.

Some guests paid for a sneak peek that evening at a VIP Soirée.

Hundreds more people were expected to attend for free Saturday and Sunday.

Musical performances were scheduled throughout the festival.

The free public hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
