A work of mercy

Fifth- and sixth-graders acting on their lessons about the corporal and spiritual works of mercy at East Catholic School in Bow Valley display Christmas cards featuring penguins they sent to a 9-year-old boy from Maine suffering from cancer. The students’ teacher, Sonya Schroeder, said she saw a news item about the boy’s struggle with the potentially fatal disease, his love for penguins, and his wish to receive Christmas greetings from around the world. The students from left, back row, Anneliese Kleinschmit, Tavious Pinkelman, Madison Kuchta, middle row, Braeden Reifenrath, Castin Pinkelman, Ava Noecker, front row, Tessa Haahr, Korbin Guenther and Claire Rolfes.
