Archdiocese completes sale of Sheehan Center
May 14, 2020
The Archdiocese of Omaha completed the sale of the former Archbishop Daniel E. Sheehan Center campus one block north of Northwest Radial Highway on 60th Street in Omaha to Heartland Family Service (HFS) May 8.
The four-building complex housed employees of several archdiocesan offices and ministries until a move late last year to new quarters at 2222 N. 111th St. in Omaha. The former Chancery at 62nd and Dodge streets was sold earlier this year to nearby St. Margaret Mary Parish, with Chancery staff also moving to the N. 111th St. location.
HFS, a local human service nonprofit organization, will consolidate administrative operations and community service programs in several locations at the new HFS campus after renovation of the facilities.
“The Archbishop Daniel E. Sheehan Center and its related services have a long history of meeting the spiritual, material and emotional needs of the greater Omaha area,” said Deacon Tim McNeil, chancellor for the archdiocese. “It pleases us to know that Heartland Family Service will continue to use the property to respond to the special needs of the community.”
