Blessing of the bells

Archbishop George J. Lucas blesses four bells Oct. 22 before they are installed at the St. John Paul II Newman Center near the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Named for the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Peter, St. Paul and St. John the Evangelist, the bells were installed in the oratory’s bell tower the next day, and were rung for the first time Nov. 1, the 72nd anniversary of St. John Paul II’s ordination as a priest.
