College of Saint Mary students recognized

Two College of Saint Mary students recently earned honors for their accomplishments: sophomore Atziri Valadez and graduate student Emmilie Kosiba.

Valadez is one of 262 students nationally selected by Campus Compact for its 2019 Newman Civic Fellowship, a one-year learning experience focusing on personal, professional and civic growth.

Campus Compact, a coalition of more than 1,000 colleges and universities, honors students who have demonstrated a commitment to finding solutions for complex social and environmental challenges. A paralegal studies major, Valadez earned the honor for her commitment to immigration reform advocacy.

Occupational therapy student Kosiba received the Outstanding Student of the Year award from the Nebraska Occupational Therapy Association at its annual conference March 1 in Omaha.

She was recognized for her activity with her school’s Student Occupational Therapy Association and her service as the group’s professional organizations representative, helping establish connections with three occupational therapy programs in Omaha.
