Encountering Jesus

Commemorating Holy Week: Let us seek Him with our whole heart

Holy Week is almost upon us. Beginning with Palm Sunday, Catholics across the Archdiocese of Omaha and the world will be preparing for the Easter Triduum, the three most sacred days of the year.

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week and commemorates the triumphant arrival of Christ in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified. The Easter Triduum officially begins on Holy Thursday with the evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper and ends on Easter Sunday.

In addition to attending Masses and other observances at their home parishes, all are welcome to join Archbishop George J. Lucas as he celebrates several liturgies at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha.

  • Palm Sunday, Sunday, March 24, 10:30 a.m., Mass celebrated by Archbishop Lucas
  • Monday, March 25, 11 a.m., Chrism Mass celebrated by Archbishop Lucas
  • Holy Thursday, Thursday, March 28, 7 p.m., Mass of the Lord’s Supper celebrated by Archbishop Lucas
