Creighton Prep student a winner in essay contest

An essay by a Catholic high school senior is among seven winners in a contest sponsored by the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation.

Will Krolikowski of Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha won $300 for his essay about World War II. Students were encouraged to interview a veteran of that war, or someone in that veteran’s family, about how their lives were impacted by the war.

"This year’s essays were remarkable," said Leslie Fattig, the foundation’s executive director. "It is very gratifying to know that history matters to Nebraska’s young people. It isn’t just a subject or course for them – it’s a vital part of their lives, and forms their personal points of view."
