Creighton Prep to honor service

A religious sister with 45 years of experience as a teacher and administrator and a couple with a long history of education and service at Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha will be among those honored Oct. 25 at the school’s Loyola Dinner of Honor and Distinction.

Also being honored: Two graduates who continue to help the all-boys high school and a woman with a strong commitment to Creighton Prep and other Catholic endeavors.

Sister of Mercy Delores Hannon, president of all-girls Mercy High School in Omaha, will receive the Sword of St. Ignatius award for her courage, loyalty and service to the Catholic Church. Molly and Gary Witt of Christ the King Parish in Omaha will receive the Hall of Fame award for past parents and friends. (Molly’s father graduated from Creighton Prep and four of their sons attended the school, among other ties.)

Alumnus of the Year award goes to Larry Good, a member of St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Omaha and a 1969 graduate honored for his service to others, and the Hall of Fame award for alumni goes to 1979 graduate Greg Boulay of St. Wenceslaus Parish in Omaha, a longtime supporter of Catholic schools. The Ancilla Domini award for dedication to faith, family and community goes to Mary Joy Anderson of St. Margaret Mary Parish, whose support of Catholic institutions includes Creighton Prep, Marian High and Assumption-Guadalupe Parish, all in Omaha.
