Hibernians honor two for service

Two members of the Father Edward J. Flanagan Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians were honored recently for their dedication to the Irish-Catholic organization.

Tom Riley, a member of St. Cecilia Parish in Omaha, received the Lifetime Achievement Award, in part for his endorsement of Irish heritage and music and support for the Hibernians.

And Tom Lynch, a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Omaha, received the 2013 Hibernian of the Year Award for his work leading the local chapters’ philanthropic arm, Irish Charities of Nebraska. Lynch also has been a district deputy for the Knights of Columbus, a lector for more than 20 years at Immaculate Conception Parish at Boys Town and a member of various community organizations.
