Holy Cross 8th-grader honored for character

A student at Holy Cross School in Omaha was honored at halftime of a College of Saint Mary (CSM) basketball game along with 21 other eighth-graders from Omaha Public Schools in recognition of her outstanding character.

Tamyiah Nielsen was honored in the first year of the Lead Like a Girl awards program. Each winner is a member of an athletic team at her school who has exemplified the values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

OPS Athletic Director Stephen Eubanks said, “The Lead Like a Girl campaign is a tremendous program which honors our best and brightest student-athletes for their effort, character and integrity. Our students, parents and administration were delighted to be a part of such a first class event … at CSM.”
