Men’s club hosts boxing exhibition
April 18, 2019
The Holy Name Parish Men’s Club in Omaha helped raise about $25,000 at an April 29 youth boxing exhibition that drew more than 800 people to the parish’s field house, money it will split between parish and school sports programs and regional boxing clubs and youth resource centers sponsored by Carl Washington of Omaha.
Father David Korth, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish and CEO of Christian Urban Education Service, which supports Holy Name, Sacred Heart and All Saints schools, gave the invocation at the Rambler Rumble III.
Now in its third year, the event included more than 40 youth between 8 and 19 years old boxing three rounds.
The money helps Holy Name Parish and School athletic programs and events, said Bill Giles, president of the men’s club. And it helps Washington’s work with youth through centers for boxing, basketball, music, education and other activities, Giles said.
