Music director returns for Cathedral concert

Kevin Vogt will return to St. Cecilia Cathedral Feb.17 to perform an organ recital and join with the Cathedral Choir for a concert.

He will perform at 3 p.m. on the cathedral’s Pasi Opus 14 dual-temperament pipe organ, an instrument whose commissioning he oversaw in 2003. While at St. Cecilia from 1998 to 2008, Vogt served as organist, choirmaster and music director.  He also founded the St. Cecilia Schola Cantorum, a diocesan initiative aimed at developing an exemplary cathedral music ministry, a choir school and institute of sacred music.

He is currently director of sacred liturgy, music and art for St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Leawood, Kan. He also is a lecturer in organ and church music at the University of Kansas.

This concert is free and open to the public.
