New Archangels Catholic High School receives $500,000 from the Archdiocese of Omaha
June 13, 2024
Archbishop of Omaha George J. Lucas has approved $500,000 in support for Catholic education in the parish communities of Rural Family G, which includes St. Mary, Leigh; St. Francis of Assisi, Humphrey; St. Michael, Tarnov; Ss. Cyril and Methodius, Clarkson; and Holy Family, Lindsay.
The Archdiocese of Omaha will make a one-time contribution of $200,000 to aid in the successful launch of Archangels Catholic High School (ACHS), Rural Family G’s new central high school located in Humphrey. In addition, two grants totaling $300,000 were awarded from the Archdiocese of Omaha’s Catholic School Excellence Fund.
The announcement was made last month at a meeting with leaders from the churches in Rural Family G, led by the Rev. Scott Hastings, vicar general for the archdiocese. A team from the Archdiocese of Omaha also attended.
“The dedication of the local leadership since the announcement of the school merger fills me with great pride and inspiration,” Archdiocese of Omaha Catholic Schools Superintendent Vickie Kauffold said. “The commitment of Excellence Grant Funds affirms the good work that has taken place to safeguard Catholic education for the children in northern Platte and Colfax Counties.”
The ACHS Transition Team shared the news with parishioners in a letter, along with its gratitude.
“We are thankful for the support of Archbishop Lucas and Vickie Kauffold, Archdiocesan Superintendent of Schools, who administers the Excellence Grants,” the Transition Team said. “Their financial gifts exemplify their unwavering support and belief in Catholic education in our family of parishes.”
Three hundred thousand dollars of the funds will directly aid Archangels Catholic High School in its inaugural year, with $100,000 earmarked for branding costs, such as team uniforms, signage and a school website. The remaining $200,000 is dedicated to establishing an Advancement Office that will focus on the long-term financial stability necessary to continue the strong tradition of Catholic education in the area.
Located in Humphrey, Nebraska, Archangels Catholic High School’s mission is to empower students to lead lives of purpose and service by growing minds in knowledge and expanding hearts in the Catholic faith. Archangels Catholic will offer grades 7-12 and open for the 2024-2025 school year. The school was established through the merger of Lindsay Holy Family and Humphrey St. Francis junior and senior high schools.
Archangels Catholic High School is accepting new student applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Enrollment questions should be directed to the school principal, Jennifer Dunn, at jdunn@achs.esu7.org. Other inquiries should be sent to transitionteam@achs.esu7.org.
