Sister Mary Sean was a nursing administrator in Omaha

Sister of Mercy Mary Sean Crimmins, whose career in nursing and administration included three years in the Archdiocese of Omaha, died May 25 at Mercy Villa in Omaha. She was 91.

A funeral Mass was held June 1 in the chapel at Mercy Villa, with interment at Resurrection Cemetery, both in Omaha.

Born in Denver, Sister Mary Sean entered religious life in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1949. She professed first vows in 1952 and perpetual vows in 1955. She earned a nursing certificate from Mercy Hospital in Denver and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from College of Saint Mary in Omaha.

Sister Mary Sean served as director of Nursing Services in Omaha at the former St. Catherine Hospital from 1975 to 1977. She also served as a nurse and as an administrator at hospitals in Colorado, Iowa, Oregon and British Guiana.

Later in her career, she also cared for elderly Sisters of Mercy in Denver and North Bend, Oregon, and provided pastoral care at hospitals in Williston, North Dakota, and Des Moines and Centerville, Iowa. She also worked as a personal care provider through a home health care company in Denver.

Sister Mary Sean returned to Omaha in 2018 to live with her community and participated in a ministry of prayer.
