Omaha Symphony, Cathedral Choir collaboration to feature ‘Vivaldi’s Gloria’
August 27, 2025
A new collaboration between the Omaha Symphony and the St. Cecilia Cathedral Choir will allow the wider Omaha community to learn more about the beauty and holiness that Catholics offer to God through art. They will also experience the magnificent acoustics of the cathedral and enjoy its landmark Martin Pasi pipe organ.
The first concert in the Symphony/Cathedral! collaboration will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 p.m. It will feature “Vivaldi’s Gloria” for baroque orchestra and choir with special features for strings. The concert will include music by Telemann, Corelli, Bach and Buxtehude, culminating in Vivaldi’s powerful Gloria in D Major.
“To bring the forces of our city’s premier music ensemble to join with the voices of the Cathedral Choir is an exciting and unique experience and collaboration,” said Dr. Marie Rubis Bauer, director of music for the Archdiocese of Omaha and cathedral organist. “I hope people can come and bring their families and neighbors to enjoy this classic sacred masterpiece.”

Rubis Bauer said that to begin this collaboration with “Vivaldi’s Gloria” was the perfect choice as it “gets right at the heart of Roman Catholic worship, is on the lips of worshippers for centuries and across the world at every solemn Mass each Sunday.”
The performance is supported by the cathedral’s Matthews Organ Fund and the archdiocesan Burkley Family Fund. For more information or to purchase tickets for either performance, visit https://ticketomaha.com/Productions/vivaldi-gloria.
