Out of the classroom and into service

With projects ranging from neighborhood cleanup to making blankets for expectant mothers and visiting elderly veterans, students at St. Thomas More School in Omaha spent a day out of class to serve others during the school’s 14th annual Community Outreach Day.

The April 13 event included a Mass and an assembly before the work began. Students also wrote about their groups’ experiences and shared their reflections at a concluding assembly.

“This is a very meaningful day and tradition for our school,” said Principal Gary Davis. “Our school staff and families put a lot of work into this day, and the experience leaves our student volunteers with lasting life skills.”
