RELCO luncheon lauds directors
June 18, 2019
The Religious Educators, Leaders and Coordinators of Omaha (RELCO) held a luncheon May 16 at the Millard Social Hall in Omaha to recognize retiring religious education directors and to celebrate the many services provided by religious education staff and volunteers, such as Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), Vacation Bible School, youth ministry and adult faith formation.
Father Dennis Hanneman, a retired priest of the archdiocese, gave the keynote address to about 65 attendees. Father Hanneman was instrumental in revitalizing RELCO in the 1970s when he worked for the archdiocese’s Office of Evangelization and Catechesis.
One example of RELCO service to catechists and religious educators is the annual SPARK! Event. This fall, SPARK! will feature keynote speaker Joe Paprocki, author of “The Catechist’s Toolbox.” The catechist in-service will be held Nov. 6, 6-8:30 p.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Omaha.
