Schools receive grants for college visits

Eighth-graders from All Saints School and Sacred Heart School, both in Omaha, will get an early start on their college plans thanks to the EducationQuest Foundation.

Through grant funding from the Lincoln-based organization, the students will visit colleges, receive instructional materials on topics such as career awareness and financial aid opportunities, and participate in college preparatory activities at their schools.

The schools were two of 12 Omaha-area schools receiving grants from EducationQuest, an organization that works to improve access to higher education in Nebraska through college planning services, scholarships and other programs.

“When younger students visit a college campus, they see first-hand the possibilities that college can offer,” said EducationQuest vice president Eric Drumheller. “This experience can motivate them to take steps during high school that will make college possible.”
