For the 12th consecutive year, Archbishop George J. Lucas joined clients, staff and volunteers at the Stephen Center in Omaha for a Thanksgiving meal Nov. 25. He helped serve a special “sit-down” meal to individuals and families there who are experiencing homelessness or recovering from addiction. “It’s an opportunity for me to encounter some members of our community that I don’t get to see very often, those who are served very well by the Stephen Center throughout the year,” he said. “It’s important that we all take the time as we give thanks, to also look around and be alert to the opportunities to encounter and serve our brothers and sisters who might be in some kind of need.” Last Thanksgiving, despite the pandemic, the meal was held with COVID protocols in place (above). Precautions were in place again this year. MIKE MAY/STAFF
