Sister Patricia taught in Omaha

Sister of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Patricia Ann Perko, whose 62 years of service included five years teaching at a former Omaha elementary school, died July 12 in Dubuque, Iowa. She was 82.

A funeral Mass was held July 25 at Marian Hall Chapel in the order’s Mount Carmel community, and burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery, both in Dubuque.

A native of Butte, Mont., Sister Patricia entered the Blessed Virgin Mary congregation in 1954, took final vows in 1962, and taught under her religious name Sister Vincent de Paul from 1964 to 1969 at the former St. Bridget School in Omaha. She also taught in elementary schools in Missoula, Mont., Seattle and San Francisco.

Sister Patricia served as a learning center teacher in Seattle and Los Angeles, was a school secretary and learning center coordinator in Butte – where she also ministered as a nurse’s aide and in home health care – and coordinated religious education classes in San Francisco.
