Spirit Catholic Radio announces new leadership
July 16, 2025
After 23 years as executive director of Spirit Catholic Radio Network, Jim Carroll has stepped down from that role to develop and lead a foundation to support the radio network.
Replacing Carroll – beginning today, July 17 – is Eric Svoboda, who had served as operations director for the station.
As president of VSS Catholic Communications Foundation, Carroll will turn his attention to expanding Spirit Catholic Radio’s presence beyond Nebraska and developing powerful new programming, according to the radio network.
He led Spirit Catholic Radio for all but its first three years.

As he began his new post at VSS Catholic Communications Foundation, he reflected on the past and the future.
“It has been one of the greatest blessings of my life to walk this journey with our listeners, supporters, and dedicated team,” Carroll said. “I’ve witnessed firsthand how Catholic radio can change lives — often in quiet, powerful ways. As I step into this new role, I do so with deep gratitude and great hope for what lies ahead. The mission continues, and I’m honored to help guide it into the future.”
Svoboda joined the network in 2023, after more than 25 years in business operations and supply chain leadership in both small and large businesses.

He and his wife, Andrea, live near Brainard, in the Diocese of Lincoln, where they are active members of Holy Trinity Parish.
They have five children and help maintain a small family farm.
“Spirit Catholic Radio is more than just a radio station,” Svoboda said. “It’s a ministry of truth, encouragement, and hope. I’m honored to continue this mission into the future.”
