Spirit Catholic Radio announces Oklahoma merger
January 22, 2026
Oklahomans will benefit from Catholic radio programs similar to what Nebraskans have been enjoying for years, thanks to a merger between Spirit Catholic Radio and Oklahoma Catholic Broadcasting.
Under a new name – Spirit Catholic Radio Oklahoma – the Oklahoma network will gain a $200,000 investment in technical infrastructure and three paid employees – two part-time and one full-time – to its all-volunteer force, according to a news release from Spirit Catholic Radio.
As part of the transition, Jim Carroll, president of VSS Catholic Communications Foundation and longtime executive director of Spirit Catholic Radio, will serve as interim executive director of the Oklahoma Catholic Radio Network.
Carroll said in the news release that he is honored to help with the transition.
“Catholic radio is a powerful tool for evangelization,” he said, “and this merger will allow us to serve the faithful in Oklahoma more effectively than ever before.”
Listeners there can expect to hear national programs and Bible studies and local features such as a one-hour morning program, daily Mass, rosary, reflections by clergy, parish spotlights and event promotions – similar to what is offered to Spirit Catholic Radio listeners in Nebraska and elsewhere.
The Oklahoma network likewise will offer a Catholic Speaker Series and traveling displays on the Eucharist, Mary and the Shroud of Turin.
Changes there will be rolled out gradually, Spirit Catholic Radio said.
