Spirit Catholic Radio honored for 25 years of broadcasting

Spirit Catholic Radio Network was recently lauded for 25 years of broadcasting.

A team from the station accepted the recognition during a national Catholic Radio Conference in Birmingham, Alabama, hosted by Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). EWTN is the largest religious media network in the world, reaching out to people through television, radio, short wave, news wire services and publishing.

The EWTN radio network has 448 affiliates in 44 states, and Spirit Catholic Radio became just the fourth affiliate to be recognized for a quarter century of broadcasting.

The Omaha-based station went on the air on Jan. 9, 1999. Last month it added its 20th signal in Falls City, increasing Spirit Catholic Radio’s reach to nearly 95% of Nebraska’s population. The radio station’s broadcasting also extends into six other states.

Jim Carroll, executive director of Spirit Catholic Radio, was honored with a Faithful Warrior Award from EWTN’s chief executive officer, Michael Warsaw. The annual award is given for outstanding achievement in furthering the mission of Catholic radio in the United States.

The station’s program director, Jeb Eischeid, accepted an award for “best top of the hour ID.”
