St. John Parish marks Week of Prayer
February 1, 2019
Creighton University’s St. John Parish, in collaboration with its Lutheran Campus Ministry and several Omaha-area churches, marked the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Jan. 18-25 with a worship service Jan. 18 at First Central Congregational Church in Omaha.
The worship service has served as a cornerstone of interdenominational celebration and conversation for many years, said Molly Mattingly, director of music ministry for St. John and Campus Ministry. She and Reverend H. Ashley Hall, associate professor of theology and director of Lutheran Campus Ministry at Creighton, expanded the service, adding another host, Reverend E. Scott Jones, pastor at First Central Congregational and adjunct professor of philosophy at Creighton.
“Each year, we look forward to this opportunity to worship together and be reminded of what unites us in Christian faith,” Mattingly said. “We’ve seen this service grow and it continues to be a blessing for students and all Christians in the Creighton and Omaha communities, as we join with Christians all over the world in celebrating the week.”
