Storm Chasers baseball offers June 19 Catholic night

A special spirit might be evident at the Omaha Storm Chasers’ game June 19 – Catholic Night at Sarpy County’s Werner Park.

Catholics will be involved in several activities:

John Griffith, executive director of Catholic Charities, will throw the first pitch. A concession stand that normally serves fried chicken will host a fish fry. And groups from parishes or other Catholic organizations will get a shout out during the game, said Ryan Worthen, group sales executive for the Storm Chasers.

Catholic Night is a revived activity that began in the former home of the baseball franchise, Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha. Last year, the promotion attracted about 350 additional fans to Werner Park, Worthen said. And he expects a similar draw this year.

Fans can purchase $8 box seats – discounted from $11 – for the 7:05 p.m. game against the Albuquerque Isotopes if the tickets are purchased by June 16. Special rates also are available for other seats and the stadium’s fun zone for kids, Worthen said.

For more information or tickets, contact Worthen at 402-738-5126 or at RyanW@omahastormchasers.com.

"We’d love to have some folks out," he said. "It should be a fun night."
