Students choose saints they want to resemble

As All Saints Day approaches, people are celebrating saints, one and all, including students at Catholic schools across the archdiocese. The fourth-graders at St. Mary’s Catholic School in O’Neill dressed as their favorite saints and explained briefly why they chose their particular saints.

Having saints as friends and models for Christian life is important, said Emily Peter, the students’ teacher at St. Mary.

“As Catholics we have so many things that can help us better our relationship with Christ and strengthen our faith, and saints are one of them!” Peter said. “They are literal examples of how to live your life.

“Saints are not always perfect and go through a conversion in some time of their lives, which is a good reminder to us that we are human and we will fail sometimes, but we have the saints to look at for inspiration,” she said. “We can learn new things from studying them to improve our faith life!”

Peter’s students would agree.
