Speaking out for the vulnerable and voiceless
"We walk and we pray for the unborn and their mothers and for future souls and for future mothers, to let them know that there's a whole community who will support them," said Mirna Rodriguez of Christo Rey Parish in Lincoln.
Rodriguez and her family were among the estimated 3,000 to 4,000 people who demonstrated in the Jan. 27 Nebraska Walk for Life, organized by Nebraska Right to Life.
Many Catholics worshiped at a 9 a.m. Mass at St. Mary Church, near the State Capitol, before gathering for a rally and the walk.
Archbishop George J. Lucas celebrated the Mass with concelebrants Bishops James D. Conley of Lincoln and Joseph G. Hanefeldt of Grand Island and other priests.
