World Series trophy at The Gathering

More than 970 people – a record crowd – got a good look at the Chicago Cubs’ World Series championship trophy as they helped raised more than $550,000 to support three inner-city schools in Omaha April 8 at the 35th annual The Gathering in La Vista.

The money goes to the Christian Urban Education Service, which supports Sacred Heart, All Saints and Holy Name schools.

Tom Ricketts, owner of the Chicago Cubs and the guest speaker, brought the trophy the Cubs won last year after 108 years without a championship. He told the crowd about the tradition and success of the Cubs organization, and the importance of making dreams come true.
