Archbishop George J. Lucas sends Christmas greetings to the faithful of the the archdiocese. He shared the following Christmas message this year:
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Perhaps for you, like for many others, it’s been a very busy Advent and Christmas season. In the busyness, sometimes we’re so caught up in details that we miss the joy and the love of the people around us, and we miss the opportunity to serve them in the name of Jesus our Savior.
And so I invite us in prayer to reflect on how the Lord might be showing His face to us, in people close to us and our families, among our neighbors, but also among those that we might not see so often: the poor, the lonely, the sick, the incarcerated, the immigrant.
The Lord is revealing Himself to us this Christmas in a very real and personal way. At His first coming, so many people were distracted, and they didn’t recognize Him at His coming. We pray that we might see the Lord as He shows Himself to us, our Savior and our brother.
May God grant you a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year.
