Bellevue school raises $43,000

Extreme heat Sept. 17 didn’t stop a record number of golfers from hitting the links to help raise more than $43,000 for Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School in Bellevue.

The Cougar Classic Golf Outing at Eagle Hills Golf Course in Papillion was sold out with 160 golfers signing up, and 158 participated.

Event chairs were members of the Riha family – Jim, Dorothy, Scott (graduated in 1991), Tim (1996 alum) and Tricia Hughes (1992 graduate).

The gathering was part of a 50th anniversary celebration of the school’s founding. About 40 percent of all golfers were Cougar alumni.

Thanks to all the golfers, event sponsors and volunteers, “we were able to raise much-needed funds for the mission of Gross Catholic,” said Dorothy Ostrowski, president. “This was the perfect ending to our 50th anniversary kick-off weekend.”
