Bible study to take participants through the rise and fall of Ancient Egypt

Beginning this fall, Seeking Truth Catholic Bible Study will examine the “Rise and Fall of Ancient Israel” in 2024-2025, taking participants through the Old Testament books of Joshua, Judges, 1 and 2 Kings, Amos, Hosea, Lamentations and Chronicles.
Sharon Doran, MA, the director of Seeking Truth, leads the Bible study. She, along with Father Joseph Ponessa, a doctor of Sacred Scripture, and Laurie Manhardt, PhD, wrote the curriculum.

This year’s Bible study begins on Sept. 19 and runs for 16 weeks. Classes are held on Thursdays at St. Leo the Great Parish in Omaha. There is an afternoon session from 1 to 3 p.m. and an evening session from 7 to 9 p.m.
Registration is open until the class is full. The cost is $50 for the live class and $20 for the online class.
Seeking Truth Bible studies have been endorsed by Archbishop George J. Lucas, Bishop James Conely of the Lincoln Diocese and Bishop Joseph G. Hanefeldt, Bishop of Grand Island.
In endorsing the Seeking Truth Bible studies, Archbishop Lucas wrote: “I have found the presentations to be lively and fresh and in keeping with Catholic teaching and Catholic understanding of the Scripture.”
Seeking Truth Bible Study was commissioned by the Archdiocese of Omaha in response to St. John Paul II’s call to the New Evangelization and Pope Benedict XVI’s exhortation for all Catholics to study Scripture. Each year, Seeking Truth covers a new topic.
