Bigos and Beer set for Nov. 9

A sampling of Polish and Eastern European beers and traditional foods will be featured at the annual “Bigos and Beer” dinner Nov. 9 at the Polish Home Belvedere Hall in Papillion.

Hosted by the Polish Heritage Society of Nebraska, the event raises money for the group’s St. John Paul II Scholarship Fund for students of Polish ancestry who will attend a Catholic high school in 2019.

Students compete for the scholarships by writing essays based on Polish themes or notable historic figures.

The evening will feature songs and toasts, six Polish and eastern European beers and a Polish dinner of bigos (Polish hunter’s stew), pierogi (filled dumplings), Polish sausage and dessert. Soda also will be available.

Cost for the over-21 event is $25 per person. For reservations, contact Polish Home at 402-592-5117 or polishhomeomaha@

qwestoffice.net. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the program begins at 6:30 p.m.
