Bishop & Brews will examine AI through a Catholic lens

If you enjoy a cold beer, your Catholic faith and some thought-provoking conversation, here’s an event you’ll love: Bishop & Brews, to be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the German American Society, 3717 S. 120th St. in Omaha.

You’ll be in good company, too, joined not only by Archbishop Michael G. McGovern but also State Sen. Rita Sanders of Bellevue; Jesuit Father Kevin FitzGerald, chair of the Department of Medical Humanities at Creighton University School of Medicine; and Tom Venzor, executive director of the Nebraska Catholic Conference (NCC).

The four will be part of a panel discussion on “Human Dignity, AI, & The Common Good.”

The 7 p.m. gathering, presented by the NCC, is free and open to the public; no RSVP required.

“Whether you’re a tech enthusiast, a concerned parent, or simply curious about where faith meets modern culture, this conversation is for you,” Venzor said.

“We hope to see you there for a great night of fellowship, discussion, and good brews!”

The NCC has scheduled other Bishops & Brews discussions on AI that follow the Omaha event, including one in Lincoln at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Post, 2001 N. St., which features Bishop James D. Conley. Another Bishop & Brews event, to be held Oct. 22 in Grand Island, will feature Bishop Joseph G. Hanefeld. The venue and other details were yet to be announced.
