Blizzard warnings don’t stop party

Blinding snow fell only two hours before Scotus Central Catholic High School held its annual Gala dinner and auction in Columbus.

But the all-day blizzard warning didn’t stop the show April 14 as volunteers shoveled the walks and 475 people stepped through the school’s doors to help raise more than $240,000 for the high school’s general fund.

That’s only about 50 fewer people than most years, and the amount of money raised ranks in the top three, said John Schueth, development director.

“It was a smaller number of people but a crowd that was very generous,” he said.
