Carlo Acutis film to be released on canonization day

The soon-to-be-canonized Carlo Acutis is a saint for millennials and a saint for our times.

Born in 1991 he lived just 15 years, succumbing to leukemia in 2006. As a website designer, he’s certainly a modern saint.

But he also is a saint for the ages, devoted to prayer, the poor and the Eucharist.

Movie-goers will have a chance to learn more about the holy teen during a limited showing of “Carlo Acutis: Roadmap to Reality,” on April 27-29. The film’s release coincides with the canonization date set for the young saint, April 27, at the Vatican.

The documentary will be shown in about a thousand theaters nationwide including in Omaha, Elkhorn and Council Bluffs. Tickets for local showings can be purchased in advance at https://carloacutisfilm.com/. Youth groups in the Archdiocese of Omaha are encouraged to see the film.

The movie – made by Fathom Entertainment, Castletown Media and Wahl St. Productions –  contains testimonies from Carlo’s family and friends, as well as some familiar Church voices. It also follows a group of U.S. teens on technology-free pilgrimage to Italy, where they visit Carlo’s tomb and immerse themselves in his story and in his zeal for Christ.

According to the film’s promoters: “In a world losing itself to screens, teenage mystic Carlo Acutis saw beyond our social media-addicted society and offered an answer – if we’re willing to listen.”
