Corpus Christi processions set

Archbishop George J. Lucas will join members of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Hooper and St. Lawrence Parish in Scribner for their fifth annual Corpus Christi processions June 17 and 18, and St. Peter Parish in Omaha will hold its 12th annual procession June 18.

The archbishop will preside at the 5 p.m. Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church and lead a 6 p.m. eucharistic procession, and he will preside at the 9 a.m. Mass at St. Lawrence Church and lead a 10 a.m. procession.

The 1.2-mile procession in Omaha will start at 2:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church and end with Benediction and an ice cream reception at St. Peter Church.

Held around the world and dating back hundreds of years, processions celebrating the Solemnity of Corpus Christi publicly proclaim the Catholic belief in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
