Eagle Scout project aids religious education

As St. Thomas More Parish in Omaha prepared to introduce its religious education program for pre-school children (3 to 6 years of age), the parish needed appropriately-sized furniture.

So Joseph Gaddie, a parishioner and sophomore at Omaha South High School, answered the call. Gaddie, a member of Boy Scout Troop 377, which is sponsored by several parishes, took on the project as a means of earning his Eagle Merit Badge and Eagle Scout rank.

He designed and worked with his troop to build eight small tables and four moveable, locking cabinets in which to store educational materials. He delivered the furniture Aug. 17.
