Giving, praying in Lenten season

Emma Gunn and her parents helped make sandwiches for the needy March 15, even as 75 other religious education students and 75 parents learned about Catholic Relief Services’ Rice Bowl initiative and took time for prayer and crafts at St. Margaret Mary Parish’s Family Mission Night in Omaha.

Every student and parent experienced all three stations as they put faith into action during the Lenten season.

Emma, an eighth-grader at Lewis & Clark Middle School, and her parents, Heather and Dan, helped the group make more than 250 sack lunches for Siena/Francis House in Omaha, with meat and cheese sandwiches, fruit and a dessert.

Crafts included making prayer books and crosses, and a highlight of the CRS station was tasting food prepared from international recipes.
