High school hosts state business group

Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School in Bellevue hosted a networking breakfast for Hispanic business leaders Feb. 23, and presenters included Catholic school leaders.

The Nebraska Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (NHCC) holds a networking breakfast the last Friday of each month, helping its members connect and share information with other professionals and community leaders.

Presenters included Michael Ashton, superintendent of the Catholic Schools Office; Donna Bishop, assistant superintendent and executive director of the Omaha Catholic School Consortium; Deacon Gregorio Elizalde, manager of the Archdiocese of Omaha’s Latino Ministry office; and representatives of Catholic Charities.

Beatrize Arellanes, Catholic Schools’ coordinator of Latino enrollment, helped organize and attended the event.

It was a good opportunity for Gross Catholic to show the great work it does educating students of all races and backgrounds, including Latino students, she said.
