High school students featured on television

Writers – and performers – of poetry at two Catholic high schools in Omaha were in the finals of last year’s Nebraska Writers Collective’s statewide "slam" poetry contest.

Those teams – from Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart and V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic High School – and that April competition were featured in a segment of NET television series’ "Nebraska Stories" that aired Jan. 6.

Students in the segment included Skutt Catholic senior Rebecca Snowden, juniors Maria Miller, Hope Stratman and Lily Yates, and sophomore Clara Pohlman; and Duchesne Academy seniors Marin Harrington, Maya Crowl-Kinney and Kathryn Horwath, and recent graduates Therese O’Malley and Claire Benedix.
