Lolo’s Angels seeks toy donations

An Omaha nonprofit is seeking donations of toys for children and teenagers undergoing cancer treatment.

Lolo’s Angels, named for Lauren “Lolo” Hacker, a junior at Omaha’s Marian High School who recovered from acute myelocytic leukemia (AML), was formed by her parents to help other young people facing similar challenges.

The organization’s junior board, made up of 32 students from four area private schools, is sponsoring a Snow Day Toy Drive, with plans to collect and deliver the toys Feb. 15 to patients at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center and the Rainbow House, a guest residence for families of out-of-town patients of the hospital.

Requested items include personal electronic devices such as DVD players and tablets, along with video games, Lego sets, high-quality arts-and-crafts kits and more.

Students from Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, Creighton Preparatory Academy, Marian High School and Brownell Talbot held a launch party Jan. 21 to start the drive.
